Local search is where fake sites do the most damage
Nobody researches carefully at the side of a motorway at 11pm. Urgent local intent — a tow, a locksmith, an emergency plumber — produces the fastest clicks and the least scrutiny of any category of search, and scam operators know it.
Why urgency is the vulnerability
A lookalike site for a trade service needs to survive only a few seconds of attention: a plausible name, a phone number, a promise to arrive quickly. The usual advice — check the domain, look for the real business address — assumes a calm user with time. Urgent searches have neither.
How Marisei handles a local search
Local queries pull nearby business listings, then every destination website goes through the same Sapher assessment as any other result. Businesses whose sites pass appear on the list and on the map; the rest are not plotted at all.
The map view opens within a 5 km radius by default, and you can widen it. Distance ordering puts the nearest verified option first, which is usually what an urgent search actually needs.
The trade-off, stated plainly
Some genuine small businesses have sites that are slow, misconfigured, or hard to assess, and they will occasionally be missing from a Marisei page. If you run one and think you are being wrongly excluded, the FAQ explains how to raise it and the Verified on Marisei page explains what the assessment does and does not claim.
